Multiple Teams · Girls Volleyball Poised for a Run at Greatness

The Lady Norsemen Volleyball team has started strong with two wins over good opponents. The opened with Patrick Henry and came away with a 5 set win in front of the opponents large crowd. They followed that win up with a 3 set victory at Home over Bonita Vista. The team is led by Seniors Hailey Wilson, Mady Woods, Makenzie Childs and Sophomore Zoie Lopez. Newcomers Nina Folz (Jr), Max Ray (Soph) and Aubry Woods (Fr) are sure to make an impact as well.

Coach Doug Babington shared that the team is, “a good mixture of youth and experience with big upside.” That combination could prove just right for a run at the Grossmont Hills League Championship and the CIF Playoffs. The Norsemen moved from Division I to Division II this year. They are considered one of the favorites to take the title. Coach says that, “we have a lot of work to do, but each day we are getting better and looking forward to a great 2017 season.”

The girls will play in both the Coastal Classic (9/22-23) and SoCal Invitational (10/13-14) this year. Next up for the team, is traveling to cross-conference rival Grossmont (9/12) and then to Christian High (9/14). The Norsemen’s next home game will be Monday, 9/20 vs El Capitan at 5:30pm.
