Valhalla Norsemen Varsity lost the lead late in a 15-5 defeat to Central on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Central batting in the top of the fifth when Karmina Becerra hit a solo homer.
The Valhalla Norsemen Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Central, giving up 15 runs.
Valhalla Norsemen Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Maryn Jordan doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
After Central scored one run in the top of the third, Valhalla Norsemen Varsity answered with one of their own. Valhalla Norsemen Varsity then answered when Bailey Munch grounded out, scoring one run.
Delaney Stettler started the game for Valhalla Norsemen Varsity. She allowed 13 hits and ten runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Jordan threw one-third of an inning in relief.
Central launched three home runs on the day. Becerra had a dinger in the fifth and fifth innings. Amanda Alcala had a long ball in the fifth inning.
Valhalla Norsemen Varsity racked up eight hits. Jordan and Stettler each racked up multiple hits for Valhalla Norsemen Varsity. Stettler and Jordan each managed two hits to lead Valhalla Norsemen Varsity.
