Tuesday’s game against Mt. Carmel was a heartbreaker for Valhalla Norsemen Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 16-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven with Mt. Carmel batting in the bottom of the fourth when Mackenzie Cunningham singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Despite the loss, Valhalla Norsemen Varsity did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Mt. Carmel had 13 hits on the way to victory.
In the first inning, Valhalla Norsemen Varsity got their offense started. Valhalla Norsemen Varsity scored two runs when Maryn Jordan singled.
Riley Barger led things off in the circle for Mt. Carmel. She went two innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Delaney Stettler led things off on the rubber for Valhalla Norsemen Varsity. She lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out two and walking one. Jordan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Mt. Carmel smacked two home runs on the day. Ally Troche went yard in the fourth inning. Mara Miranda had a long ball in the fourth inning.
Valhalla Norsemen Varsity racked up ten hits in the game. Bailey Munch, Samantha Green, and Jade Hill each managed multiple hits for Valhalla Norsemen Varsity. Munch went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Valhalla Norsemen Varsity in hits.
